Our half-day Chianti wine tour is the perfect way to spend a morning in the wine country. You’ll visit two fantastic wineries hand-selected by us, and enjoy a generous tasting session accompanied by commentary and insights into the history and culture of Tuscany’s wine country. The tour concludes at lunchtime at the boutique winery — the perfect spot for a typical Tuscan meal! Here you will have another chance to enjoy a fantastic array of wines of Chianti Classico.
Our knowledgeable English-speaking guide will meet you in a central square of Florence and will take you to explore two classic wineries in charming Chianti and enjoy a tasting at each: the first is a small organic family business cellar that produces small quantities of very high-quality wines; the second one is a high-rated cellar that is present in all the major international wine guides.
The passionate winery staff/owners will proudly lead you on a guided tasting of their Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, and Super Tuscan IGT wines. If you come in the November season you will also have the chance to taste the freshly pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
This tour is recommended for travelers who come to Florence in the Fall or Winter season. November/December is when wineries complete the wine fermentation process, and there's always a lot of activity in the cellars; while in January and February you can enjoy the tranquility of the small medieval villages.
The tour runs daily except Sunday all year round with a minimum of 2 participants at least. This makes tour workings also on the low season; but since fewer programs are available, the tour often sells out: we suggest booking well in advance for your desired dates.
We did the Winter Wine Tour with Hilary, an amazingly entertaining and informative guide! We were all wine novices and her main goal was to give us touchstones to follow when exploring on our own. Learning about the history, food and people of Italy really helped to add another dimension to the tasting as well. And how could you not love a day spent in the gorgeous rolling hills of Tuscany? Loved the wineries and the lunch - highly recommend!!
