Usually, people ask me where to go for winery tasting experience once they come to Florence.
If you have 3 days and you want to see, and more of all, taste the best wines of Tuscany I suggest planning three days in the four DOCG wine growing regions of Tuscany, such as Chianti Classico, San Gimignano, Brunello di Montalcino, and Nobile di Montepulciano.
On the following proposals, you can have a sample of 3 day Tuscany wine tour run by me and my staff of local experts. You can also ask for changing cellars or itineraries according to your needs, taste, and budget.
Day 1 - Chianti Classico
You can begin your journey to the Chianti Classico wine region. Your first private tour and tasting will be in the cellars of Tenuta Poggio Casciano. Then it is off to San Polo in Chianti for lunch and a private tasting at a boutique winery a small family business. After lunch, you will stop at another winery in Chianti before checking into your 4-star hotel located in the countryside. Along route today, you will also have the opportunity to taste the marvelous local foods such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto.
Upon arrival into your hotel, take time to freshen up and then meet your driver in the lobby once again for dinner. This evening your personal reservation will be waiting for you at Trattoria di Fonte Nuova.
Day 2 - Vernaccia di San Gimignano
One of the most scenic routes for wine tourists is the road of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, which combines a spectacular landscape and one of the greatest white wines in the world.
Depart from Florence early morning and stop in a beautiful old cellar set in the Chianti wine region. Wine tasting and olive oil tasting then drive along the beauty of an unspoiled country to get to San Gimignano, here you will stop in a small winery run by a young couple for a fresh homemade lunch with excellent white wines. Soon after stop at the hilltop town of San Gimignano for free sightseeing through the ancients narrow streesìts. (on request you can ask a professional tour guide ). Then you will be going to Siena.
This evening, you may wish to have a nice quiet dinner at your hotel, or our staff is available to assist you with reservations.
Day 3 - Montepulciano and Montalcino
Today your wine adventure continues as you sip your way through the wine areas of Montepulciano and Montalcino. The wine estates have been carefully selected for you with private wine tours and tastings at Az Capanne, Tenuta Fanti, Mastroianni, Salvioni, and Il Cocco. A vineyard and winemaking tour with lunch will be included today.
Stop in Montepulciano to take a look at this beautiful medieval town where many movies such as "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Twilights" were shot.
